The innovative approaches taken by the Royal Free Hospital Children’s school to improve the health and wellbeing of its pupils were recognised with a visit from London’s deputy mayor last week.
Joanne McCartney, deputy mayor for education and childcare, saw first-hand the work the school has done to achieve the Mayor’s Healthy Schools London bronze and silver award status.
Congratulations to our Deputy Head, Steve Green, and all the team involved with organising the first Royal Free Hospital Asthma and Wheezing Awareness Day which took place on Sunday 29th April in the Atrium. The day was free to attend and aimed at children, families and allied professionals including teachers, nurses and doctors who wished to extend their knowledge, understanding and confidence in the treatment and prevention of complications surrounding asthma and wheezing. There is a second day planned for October.

After a generous donation of £5000.00 from The Diabetes Wellness and Research Foundation, the first of four sessions for young children with diabetes learning puppet and film making skills was launched during the May half term.
We are delighted to have been designated a Leading Practice School for Mental Health and Well Being in recognition of the work we are doing to help young people improve their mental health and well being.
